Job Description

About Humanity United
Humanity United (HU) is a philanthropic organization focused on advancing the dignity and voice of those most affected by violent conflict, exploitation, and injustice. Established in 2008 to cultivate conditions for enduring peace and freedom, HU today focuses on systemic change across three bodies of work: Peacebuilding, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking, and Racial Justice and Equity, with a strong focus on leveraging Public Engagement across these issues. Humanity United is part of The Omidyar Group, a diverse collection of companies, organizations, and initiatives united by a desire to improve the lives of people and societies.

Position Summary:
Humanity United (HU) is seeking a highly self-motivated, creative, and organized Senior Manager, who will serve as an integral member of HU’s Strategy, Learning and Impact (SL&I) team. The Senior Manager will support a range of organizational learning and development efforts, including advancing HU’s overarching vision to become a DEIJ-fluent systems catalyst and growing HU’s research, evaluation, and learning efforts that inform strategic decision-making. The Senior Manager will play a significant role in cultivating an SL&I team culture that embodies HU values.

The Senior Manager will support a future-ready SL&I and explore innovative ideas outside of HU to keep HU learning and growing in line with our program areas and the broader field of philanthropy. This role will support the Director of SL&I to implement and practice a consistent, rigorous, and practical approach to sensing, sensemaking, planning, and adaptation across HU.

The Senior Manager will:
  • accompany HU staff on a learning journey towards greater impact, more inclusive practice, and nimble strategies for complex systems;
  • cultivate the enabling environment at HU, within The Omidyar Group (TOG), and in the broader field to continue to learn and innovate around systems-enabled and complexity-aware strategy, learning, and impact practices;
  • facilitate cross-departmental learning and help define the journey and learning agenda for HU’s transition to a systems catalyst as we experience and respond to ongoing disruption in our field;
  • accompany teams and portfolios in co-designing and following up on their learning journeys;
  • build a practice that prioritizes DEIJ in all aspects of our work;
  • support several key workstreams related to sensing, sense-making, strategy, impact and cross-organizational initiatives within SL&I.
This is a full-time, exempt role, reporting to the Director, Strategy, Learning & Impact. Our hybrid work approach provides ongoing flexibility for regular remote work for this position, combined with periodic in-person gatherings. This role can be based anywhere in the United States.
