RN – General and Specialty Cardiology Cardiac Study Center/ Pulse Heart Institute, Olympia WA

Since its creation, Cardiac Study Center (CSC) has contracted with Pulse Heart Institute for outpatient cardiology and billing services. CSC is a proud partner of Pulse Heart Institute and has provided outpatient cardiology services in the Puget Sound Region for over 50 years. CSC partnered with MultiCare Health System to create Pulse Heart Institute in 2016 to work toward improving the health of cardiac patients.

Pulse's standard operating procedure is to employ cardiology ambulatory and billing support staff at Cardiac Study Center. This gives Pulse the dexterity to create roles unique to cardiac programs, which benefit our teams in their career development and resource needs in caring for our patients. This structure allows for a more personal feel for our employees, helping them feel valued.

Environment and Shift details :

This role is part-time, 2 days/ week. Monday and flexible with the second day—closed weekends and holidays.

Experience

Must-Haves

  • Educational Background : Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensing : An active Washington Registered Nurse License at the time of hire.
  • Certification : National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association, obtained before starting.
  • Experience : Ideally, you have at least 1 year of nursing experience.

Nice-to-Haves (We encourage you to apply, even if you don't have the experience below)

  • Specialized Experience : 1 year of experience in cardiology, PCU, ICU, or ER/ED 
  • Additional Experience : 2 years of RN experience in an outpatient or hospital setting

Position Summary

As a Registered Nurse in our cardiology outpatient clinic, you will play a key role in supporting our mission to deliver exceptional cardiovascular care. Working in collaboration with physicians and the clinical team, you will assist in assessing and educating patients on their cardiac health while contributing to a high standard of patient-centered care. Your responsibilities will include providing individualized education, supporting emergency response within the clinic, and assisting with diagnostic testing, including nuclear medicine cardiac imaging studies and echocardiographic stress tests.

This position offers a unique blend of hands-on clinical work and meaningful patient interaction in a dynamic outpatient environment. It is well suited for nursing professionals who are passionate about cardiology and looking to grow their skills in a supportive, team-based setting.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to emergent, urgent, and non-urgent inquiries.
  • Develop and deliver individualized patient education programs focused on diagnosis, procedures, and treatment plans to enhance patient understanding and care.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure seamless communication and the highest standards of patient care.
  • Serve as a cardiac health resource and educator for office staff and the broader community, promoting awareness and understanding.
  • Perform  nuclear medicine stress tests , including patient preparation, IV access, monitoring vital signs, and supporting patients during radiopharmaceutical administration and imaging protocols in collaboration with nuclear medicine technologists.
  • Conduct  echocardiographic stress tests , assisting with patient prep, continuous ECG monitoring, blood pressure assessment, and supporting sonographers and providers during both pharmacologic and exercise-induced stress echocardiograms.
  • Monitor and manage abnormal test results, facilitating appropriate referrals and follow-ups while maintaining meticulous documentation of all patient interactions and care provided.

Pay and Benefit Expectations
