HJF is seeking a Research Coordinator II to write, edit, document, and package protocols, consent forms and other regulatory documents for all assigned research projects. The incumbent will be responsible for protocols from all sponsors (federal and non-federal) and completing all actions for the protocol to receive final IRB approval. They also will perform research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects.

This position will be in support of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP), which is based in Bethesda, MD. The Research Coordinator assists with activities related to CDP’s research activities in support of their mission to lead the development of a community of military culturally mindful and clinically competent providers through the delivery of high-quality training and education, the convening of experts, and the dissemination research-based treatment and the latest topics in military behavioral health.

The CDP will lead survey research to assess the needs of military families and barriers to care, conduct secondary analyses of Military Health System records to identify predictors of access and dropout, and test a new telehealth referral network to improve care quality. CDP’s work will directly advance knowledge of mental, emotional, developmental, behavioral (MEDB) conditions and support the development of innovative, scalable interventions for military-connected children and families. The Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF) provides administrative and management support to the Center. CDP strives to be the central hub for the Military Health System (MHS) in the development and implementation of training and education to clinicians in order to ensure that all service members, veterans, and their families receive quality behavioral healthcare that meets their unique needs.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Responsibilities

  • Writes protocol applications and consent forms for Institutional Review Boards. Prepares and submits required institution and federal documentation for the conduct of the research.
  • Manages regulatory issues for all programs upon receipt of IRB approval. This includes preparing any addenda and/or annual progress reports, submitting adverse event/safety information to the IRB, updating/maintaining regulatory requirements such as updated investigator CVs, changes in principal investigator, etc. Also, maintains accurate, regulatory-compliant program/study documentation.
  • Performs scientific literature searches, editing, and formatting in support of research efforts, and the distribution of manuscripts and reports to all scientific collaborators as required.
  • Conducts research in collaboration with investigators and other staff to include interaction with study subjects for screening, recruitment and data collection, applying quality control measures as outlined/required by the protocol; contributing to the collection and organization of data; performing basic data entry and coding.
  • Performs administrative duties such as: assisting in maintaining study database and files; scheduling study appointments; maintaining team calendar, coordinating meetings while maintaining meeting documentations/agendas/minutes, processing/shipping study materials
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Background in psychology, social work, or another health-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Knowledge of project management; well-organized.

  • Ability to facilitate communication among supervisors, peers, and supervisees.
  • Must be familiar with Institutional Review Board activities and applicable federal and military regulations regarding the use of human subjects in research.

  • Ability to interact with all teammates and research subjects in a culturally sensitive, accessible, and inclusive manner that demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Interest in working in military mental health research.
  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $57,650-$78,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
