Job Description

Christopher's Reason is a substance use disorder facility that specializes in treating those who suffer from addiction. We are a fully operating OASAS licensed 822 Outpatient clinic located on the South Shore of Staten Island. We are equipped with a full medical, clinical, and peer support team. We also have a Recovery Community Living Center on site that operates 24/7. We are seeking an experienced Recovery Coach/Peer Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate who is independent and self-motivated with familiarity and experience in the field of addiction. Please provide certificates and references along with your resume. Only certified Recovery Coach/Peer Specialist’s will be considered for this full-time position. The salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct one on one peer support sessions.
  • Facilitating peer support groups.
  • Utilizing recovery expertise, professional training and lived experience.
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for clients, sharing personal experiences of recovery.
  • Outreach to engage individuals currently in a program or considering treatment.
  • Educating program participants about various modes of recovery.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with clients to monitor progress and offer encouragement.
  • Collaborate with other members of the treatment team to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Certified Recovery Peer Advocate, CRPA.
  • CRPA-Provisional, CRPA-P.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency.
  • Previous experience working in the field of addiction recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions and progress.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Personal experience in recovery with a solid understanding of the recovery process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with clients.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support systems for substance use recovery.
  • Understanding of and adherence to confidentiality requirements.
